To all those interested in the situation of the Republic of Rino Island:
Many were surprised when, last October, our website disappeared, replaced by a sale sign for around 800 dollars. Now, it has become a reality. The website has been sold to some Vietnamese individuals. This may have seemed strange or unexpected to many, but in reality, it was the chronicle of a foretold death.
Anyone familiar with the internal politics and developments of the micronation knows that Anastasio López took control of the website and social media as soon as he assumed the presidency. The constitution he drafted, which is excessively complex, was merely an excuse to control everything. He is a megalomaniac, and has always been. But now that the micronation gained fame, he wanted to believe he was some kind of opinion leader or who knows what.
Leaderships emerge naturally. People follow leaders. Marco had this virtue, and that's why he was able to gather support, grow the micronation, and achieve everything we saw. Anastasio ruined it with his stupidity and lack of sense. If Marco resigned from the micronation, it is entirely due to Anastasio's incompetence. The loss of his capacity and skill is a lamentable consequence of a useless and fascist leadership like Anastasio's.
Unable to provide a coherent direction for our internal and external policies, he paralyzed all activity, and gradually people began to distance themselves from Rino Island. They didn't want any relationship with him. We personally told members of his government this. No one could stand being around a person who only accepted the approval of his own thoughts.
If there was no ideological congress in 2024, it was because he didn't want any discussion. Without people, projects don’t work.
In October, most of us pushed for a change in government, even respecting Anastasio's unenforceable constitution. And we succeeded, our Council removed him. The president appointed to replace him was Arturo Loretti, an honest and fully capable person for the difficult mission ahead.
Anastasio did not accept the decision and, in a fit of rage, expelled all of us based on his personal opinion. I won't repeat his comments in the internal chat, but they were a string of vulgarities that contributed nothing. He then blocked us.
A few days later, we saw that he had put the site up for sale. He bought it with his own money and warned us that he could sell it. He did, though obviously, he did not receive the excessive amount he demanded.
We have not disappeared, as Anastasio would have liked. We are few, but it is not the first time we have had to regroup. We hope to return to public activity soon, with genuine democracy, and reclaim the values of peace and coexistence that made this micronation great.
This message is for those still out there who failed to understand what happened and how the reputation of our micronation, built over so many years, was destroyed. Do not give in to a scoundrel like Anastasio, who pretended to be a friend and made good promises but betrayed everyone. He betrayed Marco, his allies, and even those of us who thought of him as a friend.
We have agreed to dissolve the One Party, which has lost its meaning under these circumstances. We are driven by no ambition other than to restore our activity and image, damaged by a single man: Mr. López.
I invite you to join us in rebuilding this project. From now on, decisions will be made through direct democracy with former citizens who can contribute. Unfortunately, we will not be as open as before, but this is necessary for things to work.
To our former citizens, I ask you to return and support this rebirth. We need your help and advice. We will rehabilitate all those affected, including those who were unjustly expelled before.
Former presidents are invited to return; we need their experience and help. If Marco reads this, we ask, please, give us a chance. We also need Samperi; that calm and just voice is what this tumultuous moment requires.
